UK blocking of cloth covers - more gilt decoration by the 1840s

George Tattersall's Sporting architecture was published Sept. 29th 1841 by R. Ackermann, Eclipse Sporting Gallery, 191 Regent Street. The upper cover block in full gold, marks the gradual transition to fuller cover decoration, a procesws started in the 1830s.
